Soccer environment
In general,
soccer is not very environmentally friendly. Transport is a big factor in the
sport. Teams need transport, staff need it, and supporters need it. For
example, I go to see Manchester United play every year so I usually fly over to
England. These planes cause fossil fuels to burn as do other types of
transport, buses, cars, train. Planes give off gases such as carbon dioxide,
carbon monoxide, water vapour and others. Teams take big coach buses to games
that would give off various greenhouse gases. Massive amounts of gases
effecting the environment negatively are given off all over the world from the
players and spectators of the sport.
Pitch
maintenance also plays a big part on the environment. Floodlights consume energy.
Sprinklers that are used to water the pitch use up energy too. A lot of money
is spent on basically ruining the environment. The amount of carbon footprint
there is at soccer games is unbelievable. Many people in the stadium would
litter which would then bump up the carbon footprint for each person.
